Paulo Maldini to evaluate Gennaro Gattuso’s managerial position at AC Milan

AC Milan director Paulo Maldini has said that he will review the position of manager Gennaro Gattuso when the season comes to a close. The Rossoneri legend has previously shared the dressing room with Gattuso during their playing days but he has indicated that won’t become a factor to evaluate his work at the club.

Speaking to reporters, Maldini acknowledged that he has plenty of respect for his compatriot but he cannot have any sympathy towards him, given they are in different roles, he said: “Gattuso and I? You must have respect for the person in front of you. Views can be different but our relationship helps overcome the difficult moments. We have different roles, we are not teammates. Alessio Romagnoli focused on winning the remaining Serie A matches

AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli has said that the Rossoneri should remain focused on winning the remaining two games of the season in order to enhance their prospects of making the top four. The Rossoneri are currently three points behind fourth-placed Atalanta but the latter have a game against Juventus to contend before the end of the campaign.

Speaking to DAZN, Romagnoli indicated that the Rossoneri could yet secure Champions League football for next season and they need to win their remaining two games whilst hoping that the other results go in their favour, he said: “We have to focus on winning every game, then we’ll see what happens. It was a great performance tonight, especially in the first half, while we defended well in the second. We have to win both remaining matches and hope some other results go our way.”

Lucas Biglia’s agent talks up new contract for midfielder at AC Milan

The agent of Lucas Biglia has indicated that the Argentine is keen on extending his contract with AC Milan beyond the 2019/2020 season. The midfielder has endured an injury-plagued campaign with the Rossoneri this term, but he has recently returned to the mix with the occasional start under Gennaro Gattuso.

In a report covered by Calciomercato, the representative of Biglia revealed that he would be arriving to Milan on Wednesday to discuss the future of his client. He added that the player does hold hometown club Boca Juniors in high regard but a return to Argentina does not regard on the agenda in the near future, he quipped: “I will arrive in Italy on Wednesday to talk to Milan. Boca Juniors is a very important club that has my and Lucas’s respect but it’s not the time to go back to Argentina.”

Gennaro Gattuso Admits Milan Have To Improve More

AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has admitted that there is plenty of work to be done at the Italian club before starting to make progress in the league table. It has been a year campaign for AC Milan as they have gone through spells of struggle and elation in equal measure. The club are currently in the top four and Milan are looking to finish in this position for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign. The club has been out of the Champions League in all these years and it has been a major problem when it comes to attracting the top players to the San Siro – despite having all the prestige in the world.

Gattuso came in as the replacement for the Vincenzo Montella in the middle of the 2016-17 campaign. Even though he results have not been exactly consistent, Milan were able to register their highest points tally (64) in six campaigns. Now, they are looking to finish in the top four places for the first time in a very long time. All these are positive attributes, but it may be a while before Milan are back in the title race considering the strength shown by Juventus over the last five years. AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has indicated that he is only concentrated on the team’s performances and won’t indulge into a discussion regarding his future. The Italian tactician has managed to maintain the Rossoneri’s Champions League push over the course of the season and they are currently occupying the third spot after leapfrogging arch-rivals Inter, who have experienced a slump in form since the winter break.

Speaking to reporters, Gattuso refused to speak about the plight of the Nerazzurri, whose top-four credentials have come under question in recent weeks. Gennaro Gattuso pleased with AC Milan performance against AS Roma

AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso is pleased with the performance of the Rossoneri during the 1-1 draw against AS Roma on the road. The Rossoneri opened the scoring through winter signing Krzysztof Piatek in the first 30 minutes but they were pegged back shortly after the interval with Nicolo Zaniolo levelling the scores for the hosts.

Thereafter, Roma were the better team in terms of creating changes and ultimately, the Rossoneri were left to thank goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for making a string of impressive saves to keep out the Giallorossi threat. Former AC Milan star Andriy Shevchenko believes Gennaro Gattuso is the right man to take the Rossoneri forward despite the recent speculation regarding his future. The 40-year-old’s position at San Siro has come under scrutiny over the past month amid the Rossoneri’s poor league run but he has managed to get himself sometime after the club’s 2-1 comeback triumph over SPAL before the winter break.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Shevchenko has been supportive of his former Rossoneri teammate and believes the San Siro are in good hands for the second half of the campaign, he said:”It is important to keep supporting Rino, because he’s giving the team an identity and a sense of belonging. AC Milan looking into winter agreement for Chelsea defender

AC Milan are reportedly weighing up a winter approach for Chelsea captain Gary Cahill following a long-term injury to Mattia Caldara. The Italy international recently picked up a calf injury, which has sidelined him for around three months, and this appears to have increased the club’s urgency for a new central defender.

According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri are planning to make an approach for Cahill at the turn of the year as they seek to cover up the absence of Caldara. It is added that they could pursue him on a bargain price, given he has just eight months remaining on his deal and has yet to begin contract negotiations with the west London giants.
