Alex Has Ambitions To Bring Milan Back

Former Chelsea defender Alex recently completed a move to AC Milan, which brings his two-year spell at Paris St Germain to an end. Alex has been at PSG for the last two years after moving to the French capital for € 5 million from Chelsea. However, his first-team place has come under increasing threat in recent months and the French outfit recently brought in David Luiz from Chelsea for £ 50 million. This has been made with an exit from PSG, but Alex has quickly moved to another big team in the form of Milan.

Despite not being in the Champions League, Milan continued to hold a great attraction for players across the world. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world. After passing a medical at Milan, Alex stated that his ambition is to get the club back into the Champions League. The 31-year-old is a former Brazilian international, who has represented the national team on 17 occasions. However, he has not played for the national team since 2008 and he has also missed out on the chance to be at the World Cup 2014 due to the strong competition.

Alex will be able to provide Milan manager Clarence Seedorf with some much-needed quality at the back.

“I’m very happy to be here, everything is wonderful. I want to take the club back to the Champions League. I can’t wait to get out onto the field with this shirt. Ibrahimovic and Thiago told me great things, that this club is number one in many respects. I have not spoken to Menez, but I know that there is a mutual interest. I hope everything goes well,” said Alex. PSG and Milan have traded several players in recent years with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva going the other way a few years

De Jong Calls For Retention Of Seedorf

AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong, who scored the only goal of the game in the latest Milan derby, said that the club need to retain the services of Clarence Seedorf into next season as well. The Dutchman was appointed as the replacement for manager Massimiliano Allegri midway through the season. However, his appointment has not exactly worked according to plan after the team crashed out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stage, while they have also been slipping down the league table as well.

The recent run of form, though, has helped the club get back into contention for a top five finish. Prior to the defeat against Roma last week, Milan had won five consecutive matches. This has put them only a couple of points behind Inter Milan, who occupy the fifth place. This will be the final qualifying spot for the Europa league. It is understood that the club has made it a priority to finish in this position. However, there have been rumours that Seedorf could be sacked before the end of the season. AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani is reportedly in favour of making former striker Filippo Inzaghi as the new manager.
Nigel de Jong, though, gave his backing for Seedorf to continue as the manager.

“This victory is for Seedorf. People talked too much about his position this week, but he is very important for the squad. This game was doubly important. Everyone saw in recent weeks how tough it was for our team, so it was fantastic to win and we must continue along this path for Europe. We have never given up, so we have to carry on and I believe we can get a place in the Europa League,” said the midfielder after the 1-0 win over Inter Milan.
