AC MILAN TABLE CONTRACT OFFER FOR VETERAN DEFENDER MARCELO

According to Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid icon Marcelo, who is set to depart as a free agent this summer, is attracting the interest of reigning Serie A champions AC Milan. Marcelo’s time at Real Madrid will come to an end this month, with the Brazilian defender bidding goodbye to the club in an emotional farewell event earlier this month. The 34-year-old leaves Real Madrid as one of the most decorated players in the history of the club, having won six La Liga titles and five UEFA Champions League crowns, along with numerous other honours.

In total, after joining from Fluminense in January 2007, Marcelo made 544 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 34 times and assisting 104 goals. However, he was reduced to a backup player over the past couple of seasons, with Ferland Mendy assuming duties as the first-choice left-back. With Real Madrid building towards the future, they decided not to hand Marcelo a new contract, with his current deal expiring on June 30. Set to become a free agent, the 34-year-old has no shortage of suitors heading into the summer transfer window. Read more… »

Leao has been with Milan since the summer of 2019 when he arrived from LOSC Lille. Manchester United are weighing up a move to sign Sven Botman from Lille this summer, according to reports. Website Football Insider is reporting that the Red Devils are keen on a deal to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag sets about adding to his squad ahead of his first season in charge.                        MAN UNITED STAR JETS OFF TO MILAN, MEETS IBRAHIMOVIC

Like it or loathe it, Manchester United’s players are now on a break after the Champions League defeat. With no game until April 2, the players who are not on international duty have a breather to recharge for the final run-in. One of these is a player who has barely played all season anyway, Jesse Lingard. Of course Lingard’s lack of action is the reason why he is not in the England squad, although that doesn’t explain Jadon Sancho’s peculiar absence from Gareth Southgate’s muddled plans.

Lingard has taken the opportunity to catch up with a former Manchester United teammate who he played alongside between 2016 and 2018, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. This is a far better place for Lingard to visit than hanging out around West Ham’s stadium, and who knows, Zlatan may even be encouraging his old pal to join him in Italy permanently.

Milan have continued their resurgence this season and have impressed a lot of people, including their fans as they look to return to the table of the big boys not only in the Italian Serie A but also in Europe as well. The Milan management are working on how the midfield will look moving forward and there is already the idea of replacing Tiemoue Bakayoko, a report claims.

According to what we have learned from our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Franck Kessié – whose contract will expire at the end of the season – has been courted by Barcelona for some time and he is unlikely to reject the possibility of joining the Blaugrana or a Premier League team. Milan want Renato Sanches to replace him having tracked him for three years now, and while he may not be a direct replacement in terms of characteristics, he would make Kessié’s farewell less destabilising from a numerical point of view.
