Bayern Munich midfielder snubs Chelsea in favour of AC Milan

Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches has opted to snub advances from Premier League’s Chelsea in order to pursue a move to AC Milan this summer.

The Portugal international is likely to join the Rossoneri on a temporary basis with Bayern hoping that the player will evolve into a top-class prospect in the future.

Sanches, 19, struggled to make a regular appearance in the German top-flight last season, and he was restricted to just six starts through the campaign. Following last week’s 3-2 friendly win over Chelsea, Sanches admitted that he would prefer to join AC Milan, where he would get more of an opportunity to progress, he said: “Of course, I would like to play more that’s why I want to change and go to a club where I would play more. AC Milan is an interesting option. If the opportunity emerges and the clubs can agree, I would like to know. I’m young, I want and I have to play a lot. I think the chance to do so is greater in Milan than in Munich.” Read more… »

LEIVA REVEALS AC MILAN BID

Former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has admitted that he chose Lazio above many other clubs this summer. The Brazil international had been linked with the likes of AC Milan, Newcastle United and Gremio during the transfer window before he decided to link up with the Rome-based outfit.

Leiva spent 10 seasons with Liverpool, where they were mostly in a transition phase, and he thereby did not get the chance to celebrate the success achieved prior to his arrival. Overall, the Brazilian made 344 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, while bagging seven goals in the process. Read more… »

Leonardo Bonucci Completes AC Milan Move

AC Milan have secured the services of defender Leonardo Bonucci on a five-year contract.

The £37.45m deal was finalised as early as last week, but the transfer was being held up due to the player’s medical tests. Bonucci spent seven seasons at Juventus where he earned the reputation of being one of the best defenders in the world.

At 30 years of age, the centre-back was expected to remain pivotal to the Bianconeri’s future success, but he made a surprise decision to join the Milan giants following Juventus’ decision to offload him. Bonucci had a bust up with manager Max Allegri during the backend of the previous campaign, and this appears as one of the key reasons why the club decided to part ways with his services.

On his arrival to Milan, manager Vincenzo Montella was full of praise for the central defender and he is looking forward to working with him during the upcoming campaign, he said: “He is a player with international experience. Technically, I think that he and Sergio Ramos are the strongest central defenders in the world. Coaching him is a dream come true.” Read more… »
