AC RECOVER

AC Milan managed to recover in the most stunning fashion to finish the last season in the third position. Defender Kevin Constant is of the opinion that the club will be able to win the Italian Serie A title in the upcoming season.

Milan will be going into the new season with the confidence carried over from the second half of last season according to Constant. Under the management of Massimiliano Allegri, Milan had one of the worst starts to the Italian Serie A campaign last season. As a result, they were close to the bottom of the table during Christmas.

It looked like the club will finish in the bottom of the table for the first time after a long time, which would have also resulted in manager Massimiliano Allegri losing his job as well. However, the arrival of Mario Balotelli during the January transfer window managed to overturn all the negatives into positives aspect within the club.

Balotelli was a huge part in the stunning revival of the club, which helped them finish in the position. As a result, they will be having Champions League football once again, which looked like a distant dream only a few months ago.

“I am not thinking about other teams. We do not fear anyone. We are preparing well, increasing our work load ready for the season. I believe we can win the league. We have a good team,” said the 26-year-old defender. Even though the club finished in third position last season, they were a massive 15 points behind the eventual winners of the competition – Juventus. The Turin-based club still remain as the team to beat after they have won the Italian league title twice in succession.

Antonio Conte has once again gone on and strengthened his team by bringing in Carlos Tevez.

AC LINKED WITH TEVEZ

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Carlos Tevez for a long time, but it appears that the Argentine may not come to the San Siro in this summer according to the vice president of the club.

Adriano Galliani has stated that the transfer demands of Manchester City for their striker Tevez means that they will be unlikely to afford him. The only way of AC Milan meeting the transfer requirements will be to sell one of their strikers. Tevez is being seen as the replacement for Robinho, who is widely linked with a return to Brazil with Santos.

This would leave AC Milan with Mario Balotelli and Cassano as the major strikers at the club. The club has also been linked with a move for the former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in recent weeks.

However, budget constraints meant that they will not be able to get both of these players. After struggling with form during the early part of last season, Milan managed a stunning comeback in the second half to finish in the top three positions. This has ensured that the chance to play in the group stages of the Champions League, which will be worth in excess of £ 30 million in revenue alone.

“Tevez is not a transfer target for us. Before we will try to bring in new players, we will have to sell some of our own players first. It’s not a financial problem, but has to do with the amount of attackers we already have. At the moment, we already have seven players for just three positions. Our big transfer coup came in January when we signed Mario Balotelli from City. We will see if anything else happens,” said Galliani. Milan are now expected to turn their attention to other targets after failing to get Tevez.
