MILAN BEGAN TITLE DEFENSE WITH WIN

AC Milan began their Italian Serie A title defense with a win after they came from behind to see off Udinese at home in a game played last weekend. Milan and Udinese on the opening weekend of the new Italian Serie A season. AC Milan are the new champions in the Italian top flight after they won the league title for the first time in a little over a decade ahead of city rivals Inter Milan. Inter Milan were the Italian Serie A champions before they were dethroned by AC Milan at the end of last season.

Milan were heavy favourites for the home game with Udinese on Saturday, but things go as planned after the visitors took the lead. It took Udinese just two minutes to score the first goal of the game courtesy Brazilian defender Rodrigo Becao. Milan were behind for just nine minutes before they were given a lifelinevia a penalty. Frenchman Brandon Soppy was adjudged to have fouled Davide Calabria in the Udinese box and Theo Hernandez scored the resulting penalty to level proceedings.

Croatian star Ante Rebic was the star of the game between AC Milan and Udinese last weekend after the forward scored twice either side of the half-time interval. His first goal gave Milan the lead for the first time in the game four minutes after the successful penalty from Hernandez. Moroccan left-back Adam Masina scored the second Udinese goal in first half added time to ensure that the two team went into the break on level terms. Brahim Diaz and a second Ante Rebic goal in the second half made sure of the points for manager Stefano Pioli and his AC Milan players.

AC Milan will be hoping to make it two straight wins at the start of the new league season when they take on hosts Atalanta this weekend. Atalanta started the season with a 2-0 victory at the home of Sampdoria.
