Lucas Biglia’s agent talks up new contract for midfielder at AC Milan

The agent of Lucas Biglia has indicated that the Argentine is keen on extending his contract with AC Milan beyond the 2019/2020 season. The midfielder has endured an injury-plagued campaign with the Rossoneri this term, but he has recently returned to the mix with the occasional start under Gennaro Gattuso.

In a report covered by Calciomercato, the representative of Biglia revealed that he would be arriving to Milan on Wednesday to discuss the future of his client. He added that the player does hold hometown club Boca Juniors in high regard but a return to Argentina does not regard on the agenda in the near future, he quipped: “I will arrive in Italy on Wednesday to talk to Milan. Boca Juniors is a very important club that has my and Lucas’s respect but it’s not the time to go back to Argentina.”

Aside from Boca Juniors, Biglia has also been linked with Marseille and a number of Chinese Super League clubs but his agent has indicated that the main priority remains on staying put with the Rossoneri for the long-term, he further told: “I cannot confirm an interest today, there are other situations at stake like the possible renewal. The priority remains AC Milan. China? It’s a year ago interest. A lot of things can happen but he wants to make history in Milan.”

Biglia had begun the season as the first-choice midfielder alongside Franck Kessie before he suffered a long-term calf problem. During this space, on-loan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has slotted into the heart of the midfield with plenty of efficiency and reports have suggested that the club will seek to activate the buy option on the Frenchman’s contract when the season concludes. In this case, the Rossoneri may seek to balance the books with the sale of other recruits and Biglia could head through the exit door, should a contract renewal not go through.
