Alessio Romagnoli focused on winning the remaining Serie A matches

AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli has said that the Rossoneri should remain focused on winning the remaining two games of the season in order to enhance their prospects of making the top four. The Rossoneri are currently three points behind fourth-placed Atalanta but the latter have a game against Juventus to contend before the end of the campaign.

Speaking to DAZN, Romagnoli indicated that the Rossoneri could yet secure Champions League football for next season and they need to win their remaining two games whilst hoping that the other results go in their favour, he said: “We have to focus on winning every game, then we’ll see what happens. It was a great performance tonight, especially in the first half, while we defended well in the second. We have to win both remaining matches and hope some other results go our way.”

At present, the Rossoneri have the better head-to-head record against Atalanta and that would propel them to the fourth spot, should the latter succumb to a defeat at the hands of Juventus this weekend. Prior to that, however, Atalanta have a Coppa Italia final against Lazio in midweek and that could prove an unwanted distraction before the Bianconeri clash.

Meanwhile, Milan are already considering their plans for the summer transfer window and reports indicate that new CEO Ivan Gazidis has earmarked potential targets. Still, the focus could more or less on keeping hold of the stars within the current squad and Tiemoue Bakayoko is one of those, they may have to spend on during the summer.

The Frenchman has been a huge hit at the Rossoneri following his season-long loan from Chelsea and multiple sources have suggested that the club are prepared to secure a permanent deal for his signature this summer. Milan have the option of triggering a £35m buy clause but they are being fancied to negotiate a lesser value for the midfielder.
