SERIE A: MILAN WINNING RUN EXTENDED

Seven-time European champions AC Milan have now won six games in a row in the Italian Serie A after the slim win over Torino at the San Siro on Tuesday.

AC Milan needed to beat Torino to secure the summit on the Italian Serie A log and they were able to achieve that target thereby moving three points clear of previous leaders Napoli.

Milan had earlier taken top spot at the weekend ahead of Napoli before the Luciano Spalletti-led team moved back to the top as far as the Italian Serie A log is concerned. The Rossoneri started last weekend with a two-point deficit on leaders Napoli and they were able to move one point ahead of the team from Naples with the 4-2 comeback win over 10-man Bologna away from home on Saturday. Napoli then moved back to the summit on goal difference with the goalless draw against hosts AS Roma on Sunday.

The Rossoneri are back at the top thanks to the slender victory over Torino. French striker Olivier Giroud scored the only goal of the match on 14 minutes to secure the three points at stake. With the result, AC Milan have now won their last six games in the league. The UEFA Champions League campaigners have drawn just one game this season and that was the 1-1 draw with hosts Juventus last month. They had started the season with three straight wins before the draw from the Serie A game with the Old Lady.

Milan have a three-point advantage over Napoli at the Italian Serie A summit and the team from Naples can go back to the top with a win over Bologna at the Stadio Armando Maradona on Thursday evening. AC Milan have a record of nine wins and one draw from their ten league games this term.
