SEEDORF BACKS REAL

New AC Milan manager Clarence Seedorf says that Real Madrid can once again become a dominant force in European football after the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti has transformed the club in the last few months.

Ancelotti replaced Jose Mourinho in the summer, but results were not excellent almost immediately. In fact, the club trailed Barcelona by six points before the winter break, but they have totally turned around the situation in the last few months. They now lead the Spanish league table by four points with only 11 matches remaining.

They have been placed as the favourites to win the Champions League this season along with Bayern Munich. Real Madrid is the most successful club in European football history, as they have won nine titles so far. However, they have not won the competition in more than a decade. Seedorf recently retired from playing and immediately became the manager of his former club Milan. Real Madrid also counts as one of the club’s Seedorf represented during his illustrious career. Seedorf will be taking his Milan team to Spain looking to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Italian giants trial Atletico Madrid 1-0 on aggregate after losing the first leg due to a goal from Diego Costa. He also said that Barcelona appear to be coming to the end of an era.

“Madrid and Bayern Munich are the teams that played the best football at the moment. Real Madrid have grown as a team, and Bayern already had a solid structure. It would be a shame to face Real in the quarter-finals, I would like to meet them farther in the competition, let’s say in the final. I think Real can become a dominant force in football. Barcelona have done great things in the last few years, it’s like the great era Milan had,” said Seedorf.

STRUGGLING AT AC

Ac.Milan initiated their Serie A season by claiming 1 victory out of the opening 5 matches. The arrival of Ricardo Kaka to the Italian team did give a boost to the team of Clarence Seedorf as the Brazilian player has displayed flashes of brilliance, minor samples of the player he once used to be.

The Dutchman Clarence Seedorf was brought into the team as someone who could restore some of the damage which was caused by the previous coach and even though the new playing style and formation that Seedorf is trying to implement into the team is going rather slow, the team does appear to have improved in one way or another since his arrival to the club.

Ac.Milan are now tied with Lazio at the 9th spot as both clubs have 35 points, which is significantly better than their previous position of a few weeks ago which saw them slipping further and further behind in the Serie A standings.

It still remains in question if they will be able to secure a spot which would allow them to play at either the Europa League or the Champions League for the upcoming season but according to Ricardo Kaka, he has no doubt that his team will be able on accomplishing that task.

“I believe we can get into Europe, but we’re taking one game at a time. Things are changing, we are playing well and if things go well on the pitch the results will come too. I like Seedorf, he is a good coach. He has his philosophy of working and in the last few games it has shown.” Kaka stated.

The Brazilian player is also hopeful that he can get another chance on appearing for the Brazilian squad for the upcoming 2014 World Cup.

“I need to do well with Milan. Then, on May 5, we’ll see if my name is on the list for the Brazil squad.” Kaka added on.
