As AC Milan extended their winless run to 5 matches, manager Sinisa Mihajlovic confirmed that he is not planning to offer his resignation to the club.
There have been calls for the manager to step down from his role following this disappointing form. This poor form has led to the club sliding to sixth in the table. There is a distinct possibility of the club missing out on a European spot once again if this poor run continues. The club’s last victory in the league came towards the end of February.Mihajlovic was praised for his managerial powers only a few months ago after managing to guide a very poor Milan team closer to the Champions League qualification spots.
Now, though, the Croatian is finding it hard to keep his position after less than 12 months in charge of the club. Milan have had a tendency to part company with managers much sooner like other Italian clubs. Mihajlovic handing the resignation would be a perfect scenario for Milan since the club would not have to pay any compensation for ending his contract sooner than agreed. Yet, the true reason for the 47-year-old hanging onto his job is the belief that he can turn the situation around.
After all, Milan are only seven points away from a European spot with six games left.“I can’t confirm myself, but I won’t resign.I never have and I never will, that much is certain. To have a clean conscience and be safe in the knowledge that you’v tried everything is the key thing, but then maybe it isn’t enough like maybe it was somewhere else. These things don’t depend on me. I can’t confirm myself, but nor can I sack myself because it doesn’t depend on me,” said Mihajlovic after the loss against Juventus.
