Ricardo Rodriguez’s agent dismisses AC Milan exit claims

The representative of Ricardo Rodriguez has stressed that the Swiss had never expressed the desire to leave AC Milan during the recent transfer window. A number of elite clubs were said to be monitoring the left-back during the summer but agent Gianluca Di Domenico has indicated that his client was never interested in parting ways with the San Siro outfit.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “Interest in Rodriguez? I do not want to go into detail about clubs, but I received many calls from intermediaries and operators of various clubs. But Ricardo never thought of leaving Milan. He is happy here and happy to play for such an important club. In a recent interview he said that he would have stayed even without European competitions, because Milan remains a team more important than others playing in Europe. Even if people continue to write that he has to leave, he will stay at the club.”

Rodriguez was a constant presence for the Rossoneri during his maiden campaign last term but he struggled to make much of an impact with no assists and just one goal contributed through the league season. However, the current campaign has begun in a much better fashion for the Swiss and he has already bagged an assist after the first two games of the season.

Based on this, Rodriguez seems entirely content with his stay with the Milan giants and, hopefully, he can play a crucial role in their push for Champions League football this term. The Rossoneri found themselves playing catch-up through the course of the previous campaign after making an average start and this is something which Gattuso may want to better upon to enhance the club’s prospects of finishing in the top four. Milan are currently with three points after the first two games of the new Serie A season.
