AC Milan are long time admirers of Milenkovic and Fiorentina have always demanded €40m for the defender every time an enquiry was made by the Rossoneri.

Milan legend Paolo Maldinirecently said that the club don’t be making any signings in the winter transfer window, but that stance has changed in recent days after Danish player Simon Kjaersuffered a serious knee injury. The injury has forced Milan into the transfer window in search for a new defender. Milan director Maldini is expected to oversee the chase for a new defender in the transfer market.

AC Milan are encouraged by the required transfer fee for long-term target Milenkovic and are ready to make a move for him. Also, the injury to Kjaer has forced the hands of senior club officials such as the aforementioned Maldini.

Milan can sign Milenkovic for just €15m, which is the release clause in his existing Fiorentina contract after he signed a new deal at the club.

In a related development, AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has told reporters that he’s set to welcome midfielder Ismael Bennacer to his squad for the Salernitana game in the league this weekend after he was forced to miss the Genoa game in midweek in the same competition.Bennacer was absent as Milan scored three goals against their struggling hosts to return to winning ways after a run of two straight losses. Bennacer had missed the 3-0 win over Genoa due to a condition called Labyrinthitis.
