MILAN CONTINUE CHASE FOR CHELSEA STRIKER GIROUD

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has continued to be a wanted man by Italian giants AC Milan, with the Rossoneri said to be keen to acquire the services of the France international striker. Giroud, who has been reduced to a bench role at Stamford Bridge in the last couple of months, is said to be dissatisfied with life in England and reportedly wants to engineer a move away from the Blues. The former Arsenal attacker has made it clear to the Chelsea manager that he would love to play more games and that he is willing to find another club if the German manager cannot promise him that.

At the end of the last two seasons, former Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte signaled his desire to sign the ex-Arsenal player and take him to Italy. However, Chelsea remained adamant that they were not going to sell him until they find a perfect replacement. Although staying put at Chelsea was not entirely what he wanted, Giroud finished the 2020-21 campaign with the Blues.

Some weeks ago, recent reports started emerging that Inter’s bitter rivals, AC Milan have joined the race to sign Giroud and that they have expressed their interest to Chelsea about snapping up the France forward. The Rossoneri aimed to complete the signing this summer but Chelsea have once again decided against selling tie former Gunners man and have also reportedly offered him a new one-year contract.

According to reports, Giroud would love to seal a move to Milan this summer as he looks to try out a new challenge but with Chelsea’s continued insistence that he is not for sale, he may have to forget about leaving Stamford Bridge again this summer.

Thomas Tuchel reportedly wants Giroud to stay behind with doubts cast over the future of Tammy Abraham at the club.
