The former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has said that the Italian club AC Milan will still remain the team despite losing a number of high profile players in the summer.
AC Milan are undergoing tremendous changes in this summer partly because of the sales of high profile players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, while some of the players like Gattuso and Nesta have retired from football. As a result, there will be significant changes across the first team in order to fill the vacant positions. Even though Mathieu Flamini’s future at the San Siro has been in the cloud of doubt for the last few months, he recently signed a new contract.
Due to the departure of the players like Gattuso and Zambrotta, it is expected that the former Arsenal midfielder will get a lot of opportunities in the first-team unlike before.
The 28-year-old was a free transfer from the Premier league club a few seasons ago, but he has struggled for first-team opportunities. Mathieu Flamini has said that players might come and go, but the club always survives and will be regarded as one of the best in the world. AC Milan have seven Champions League titles to prove that they are one of the biggest in the world.
“Milan are one of the biggest teams in the world. They are a club that have won everything and they will always be a huge club. It is going to be an important year for Milan and everyone wants to prove that we have the quality at the top level. I think it’s very simple: If you play for Milan, you want to win everything. Juventus won the league going undefeated; we want to win it back. Everything is possible, especially when you see Chelsea winning the Champions League despite not finishing in the top three in their league,” said Flamini.
