MONTOLIVO HAPPY WITH AC

The AC Milan player Riccardo Montolivo has said that he is extremely satisfied with the performance put in by his team in the Milan derby during the weekend, but the result was not the satisfying aspect.

The Italian international was one of the starters for AC Milan in the match against Inter Milan at the San Siro. AC Milan are coming into the match on the back of a poor run of form, which has seen them pick up just one victory in the league. However, they had just won against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions league and there was a case for optimism prior to this match.

It was quite evident after the start of the match that the away team was extremely good in various respects of the pitch. This was especially due to the cutbacks made by AC Milan over the summer, which has seen a number of star players either leave the club after being released from the contracts or sold. The Inter Milan defender Walter Samuel scored the only much of the game that gave the away team a 1-0 victory. This meant that AC Milan still remain in the bottom half of the table, thus increasing the pressure on the manager Massimiliano Allegri.

“It’s tough because we deserved it. We played really well. Inter played defensively, they were good but lucky as well. Now we have the international break and then we’ll get back to work against Lazio and we have to start getting points. If we had six or seven points extra we could take a hit like this, but we have so few now and we didn’t need this defeat,” said the Italian midfielder after the match. AC Milan are currently 11th in the Italian Serie A after having had only taken seven points.
